Ask A Cowboy:
- Q. What makes a bull buck?
A: Most breeders will tell you it's the genetics that is mostly involved with a Bulls ability to buck. But most, if not all, Bulls will buck with nothing more than a properly placed Flank Strap, which is a soft piece of rope, loosely tied around the animal’s midsection, as they enter the staging chute.
Note: Bulls that are breed for bucking will produce offspring which will buck and achieve higher bucking heights.
One of the common misconception is that the flank strap is tied to the Bulls testicles, which is truly false.
